More About:

The roots of Thai Yoga massage are traced back to India and are based on Ayurveda and Yoga. It was believed that this healing art was brought over to Thailand over 2500 years ago by Shivago Komarpaj (known as "Father Doctor"), a doctor, friend and contemporary to the Buddha.

Thai Yoga Massage is based on the concept of invisible energy lines running through the body. Working these lines and points makes it possible to treat a whole range of diseases, relieve pain and address the whole body and its internal organs. In ancient Thailand it was understood to be a physical application of Metta, the Pali (and Thai) word used in Theravada Buddhism to denote 'loving kindness;' and it was always considered to be a spiritual practice closely connected with the teachings of the Buddha.

Known in Thailand as "nuat phaen boran" (nuad=pressure, boran=ancient), Thai Yoga Massage has been adapted to contemporary Westerners while maintaining the essential spirit, philosophy and healing integrity of the work.

Colleen Amsbury completed 3 levels of training with instructor, Hillary Hilliard, of Textured Motion, through a program that is registered with the Thai Healing Alliance International, an organization responsible for setting high standards in the field of Thai Yoga Massage around the world.
